Following the conclusion of Bigg Boss 17, Ankita Lokhande, who secured the fourth position in the show, found herself entangled in controversy due to a misquoted statement that circulated widely. In a recent interview, Ankita took the opportunity to clarify the misunderstanding surrounding her remarks. She recounted the sequence of events, emphasizing that it was a reporter who had posed the question about whether Bigg Boss had evolved into a popularity-driven contest rather than a platform for showcasing personalities. Ankita candidly admitted that she had simply responded affirmatively to the question, stating that indeed it had become more about popularity. However, she lamented how this innocent response had been twisted and misinterpreted, leading to unwarranted backlash, particularly from fans of the show's winner, Munawar Faruqui.

"It was not me, but the reporter who asked me if Bigg Boss has now turned into a popularity show rather than a personality show," Ankita reiterated. "I just responded to his question that yes, it has become a popularity show."
Ankita expressed her frustration with the situation, highlighting the potential consequences of such misrepresentations. "Now I am being misquoted as if it was me who said it and not the reporter who asked the question," she explained. "This can also affect my bond with Munawar or anyone else if such things are taken out of context."

Amidst the fallout from the misquote, Ankita admitted feeling drained and expressed her desire for a break from the spotlight. Her experience serves as a stark reminder of the importance of responsible reporting and the dangers of sensationalism, especially in the realm of reality television.
As Ankita contemplates stepping back, her ordeal underscores the need for greater scrutiny and accuracy in media coverage, ensuring that statements are presented in their proper context to avoid unnecessary strife and misunderstanding.
