Yeh Rishta Kya Khelata Hai, a flagship and legacy show of Star Plus has seen a massive drop in TRPS. The show which always managed to secure 2.2+ ratings from past few months has now come down to 1.6-1.7.

But, what is the reason behind its downfall?

While some say that Jay Soni exit has caused a drop, there are other people stating that Abhimanyu-Akshara change in relationship looks forced.

How can Akshara who disliked Abhimanyu two months ago developed such a deep friendship with him? Something does not look right here.

The other reason is that most of the tracks are left unfinished. Manish who was against Abhimanyu just sometime ago now wants Akshara to marry him. The story has a lot of loopholes which the makers failed to fill.

Alongside, other characters in the show have no story of their own. Everything centers around Akshara-Abhimanyu. The makers need to realize that two people alone can’t run a show successfully. Characters like Aarohi, Shefali, etc have no track of their own.

Important social issues like domestic violence and dowry are slided under the rug and are only brought up if the leads have to be glorified.

Even in the past seasons, YRKKH had shown separations between the leads but the leads never fell out of love with each other. In this season, they showed that Akshara was happily married to Abhinav and began to love him.

If Abhira were always supposed to be the end game, they should have avoided showing a love track between Akshnav. Now, it is difficult for the audience to reconnect with the leads.

Even though Harshad Pranali are great performers and have sellable chemistry onscreen, the rushed storyline, abrupt tracks, lack of focus in other characters, and leads separation have affected the show tremendously.
