'This is the last generation watching TV': Shakti Arora
Television heartthrob Shakti Arora, currently captivating audiences with his role as Ishaan in "Ghum Hai Kisi Ke Pyaar Mein" on Star Plus, recently shared his thoughts on the shifting landscape of television consumption. Participating in a roundtable discussion by a leading news portal alongside fellow TV actors Harshad Chopda, Dheeraj Dhoopar, and Neha Pendse, Shakti expressed his perspective on the apparent decline in the popularity of traditional television.
In a candid moment, Shakti voiced his belief that the current generation might be the last to actively engage with television as a primary source of entertainment. He emphasized that the younger demographic, in contrast, appears to be disinterested in the content currently offered on TV. Shakti attributed this disengagement to a perceived lack of patience among the younger audience, stating, "They don't have the patience. Patience unhi ki paas hai jinko OTT chalana nahi aata." (Patience is possessed only by those who don't know how to operate OTT platforms.
Furthermore, Shakti Arora highlighted the trend of speeding up video playback, even among the current generation of viewers. This behavior, he suggested, reflects a broader shift towards faster-paced, on-demand content that traditional television may struggle to match.
In his reflection on the state of television, Shakti expressed a concern that only established formulas seem to thrive in the TV landscape. He pointed out that the industry might be experiencing a decline, characterizing it as a nosedive. This sentiment reflects the challenges traditional television faces in adapting to the changing preferences and habits of modern audiences.
Shakti Arora's observations shed light on the evolving dynamics of the entertainment industry, with the rise of digital platforms offering diverse, on-the-go content.
As the conversation surrounding the future of television continues, industry insiders and content creators grapple with the need to innovate and adapt to retain their audience in an era dominated by streaming services and diverse content consumption patterns.
